TL/DR: I’m Gonna Be On TV, I Guess?
So, last fall, the agency I work for was selected to participate in a new AMC reality show called The Pitch. Similar to AMC’s recent Talking Dead and (ugh) Comic Book Men, it’s an unscripted show meant to tie-in with one of their dramas, in this case, Mad Men. It’s basically an advertising/design competition, with two firms being given a client and a project and a couple of weeks to come up with a campaign. Two firms enter. One firm leaves. Creative Thunderdome.
It was a crazy experience, to not only have to help come up with a complete campaign in a couple of weeks, but to also do it WHILE BEING FOLLOWED AROUND BY DUDES WITH CAMERAS AND MICROPHONES. It was fun, but also horrible. I basically lived at the office for a couple of weeks, eyes glued to a computer screen for hours & hours & hours. I’m sure you can see me slowly decomposing in the footage.
I have no idea how much of my pretty mug will end up in the episode, as they filmed two weeks worth of footage that they then cut down to something like 10 minutes, but my work ended up pretty much being the campaign — which is crazy — so at least you’ll see that.
Anyway, so the New York Times ran a story on it today, so our veil of silence has been parted just a little bit. We’ve been told that our episode will be airing on April 30th at 9 pm on AMC, so set yr DVRs and maybe, just maybe, YOU CAN SEE ME ON THE TEEVEE.
And don’t worry, I’ll mention this again before it airs. JUST BECAUSE OKAY.
