ok, Big Red, school me in how you're doing those 8 panel pulp covers, just curious
It’s really the work of a crazy person. I start by saving a bunch of covers from Pulp Covers in a Dropbox folder. Once I have enough to work with, I take them into Photoshop, crop the most interesting bits into 7” squares, do some color correction, level adjustments and sharpening. I then arrange them by color or whatever and set up folders of eight squares and upload them, doing a little organizing once I’ve saved them as drafts. Then they’re queued up and the rest is history.
I think you need to share the story of the man who defecated into a Church's Chicken box.
We were at a church camping trip that my dad had sort of spearheaded. It was a primitive site, so there wasn’t a legit latrine, but we’d dug/rigged up a decent one for public use. Gross, I know, but this is camping you guys. You gotta poop somewhere, as this story will attest.
So anyway, it’s Saturday afternoon and everybody’s cleaning up to leave and I look over and there’s this kid squatting next to his family’s station wagon and he’s just dropping turds into a Church’s Fried Chicken box while his dad’s telling him to hurry up. It was weird and gross, but to be honest, that whole family was weird and gross, so NBD? I figured he did the decent thing and disposed of it somehow before they left.
I was wrong.
We found the box when we were cleaning up once most of the group had left and tossed it on the fire to destroy it forever while just shaking our heads. Some people, you know?
And speaking of burning turds, once we buried in the hole we’d dug for the communal latrine, one of us teenaged geniuses decided to toss a match on the mound where the poo-/pee-hole had once been and the biggest flame pillar I have seen IRL burst up from the ground and that was pretty awesome.
What's the best new music album you've heard/bought in 2012. No reissues.
So far, the Dirty Projectors’ Swing Lo Magellan has been my favorite for 2012. But I also have to mention Bobby Womack’s The Bravest Man In The Universe, Hot Chip’s In Our Heads, Gentleman Jesse’s Leaving Atlanta and man, Adam WarRock has put out a ton of good stuff this year.
